Family photography sessions are lifestyle sessions, which means they’re natural and photojournalistic in nature –– more so than the average portrait studio session. Most one-hour family sessions run longer than an hour for a variety of reasons. I’m flexible to accommodate the variables that arise when working with small children and changing sunlight. If you book an hour, I have no problem spending additional time with your family and not charging extra as long as we stay under 90 minutes. Once we go over 90, you’ll be on the hook for the two-hour rate.
In my opinion, 30-minute family sessions are limiting. It’s difficult to capture the range of images, expressions and backgrounds that most families are looking for when they hire me. Most of the families I work with book one-hour outdoor sessions that run about 90 minutes.
I do not have a studio. Most of my shoots happen outside using natural light. However, I’m happy to photograph you inside your home or inside any business that wont kick us out for trespassing. 😉
I like the freedom and simplicity of flat rate pricing and digital downloads. It’s easy and straightforward. You pay one fee that covers your session, a designated number of digital downloads and a private online gallery. I’ve personally hired photographers who operate this way to photograph my family, so I can appreciate a cut-and-dry approach on multiple levels. Pay me once and the images are yours without any strings attached. The prints are on you. I highly recommend MPix or Shutterfly for prints – not one-hour kiosks or drugstore photo departments.
After you book your session, I will send you a basic, straightforward contract written in transparent legalese stating that full payment is due the day of your shoot.
Edited files are typically ready about one week to 10 days after a session.
I’ll drive up to an hour away for a small travel fee.
